Uss Fort Worth - LCS-3 - 1/350 - Trumpeter

A nice kit to build. It has several sheets with photoetched to complete the model. Perhaps the most complicated is the small pieces that detail the deck lights. I have made some small improvements to the main mast and the boats. I have followed the most recent pictures on navsource.org of this model and the bushmaster guns have been mounted. For the scheme, several shades have been used with Vallejo, using the 71051 (fs36440), 70.990 (FS 36375), 70870 (FS36270), 70903 (FS35164), black and 70868 (FS36118) for the deck. The sea base is made on styrofoam, medium gloss, glossy varnish and cotton.I have placed lights on the ship by means of fiber optics including the hangar, without any more difficulties than taking care of the assembly and painting.

  1. Very interesting model of a ship and class of ship I know little about. I like your result a lot; the water is very convincing.

  2. Very nice LCS. I think these ships are generally underappreciated, but it's nice to see them built up, both Freedom and Independence designs. You've really made it shine... excellent paint work, all the details (signals, and PE), and add the lighting to really bring it to life. I'm usually looking at the ship more than the water but I can't help notice the excellent break on the prow, and the rest of the wake. Well done!

  3. This is a beautiful build! You've captured the ship at speed.

  4. Nice build, these came on line as I was getting ready to retire. My last Squadron HSC 21 was going to do deployments on them, I heard they are pigs in the open sea, being built for closer to land.

A very nice build Manuel. Very convincing work on the "water", love the way the water breaks and shows the speed of the ship ... gives it movement.

  6. Nice model, Manuel!
The water is excellently depicted, too!

  7. Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm glad you liked this nice ship. They are certainly made for waters closer to land, they have very little keel. There are some photographs where with the rough sea they have difficulties.
    Regards
