Uss Lassen - DDG82 - 1/700Hobby Boss

September 12, 2020 · in Ships · · 6 · 2.1K

A nice to build model. It seems simple because of the shapes of the ship but in reality it hides a lot of work. The decals of the cover are painted. I have used this option because although it represents more work it is a better finish on this small ship. I have also tried to represent oil canning with various shades. It is somewhat difficult for this scale. The chains are made with copper wire and some antennas as well. Rigging is UniCaenis. The sea base is made with styrofoam, cotton and half gel.

  1. Very nice work.
Ship models are cool and not that easy to build !
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. Your ship looks "SUPER GREAT!" Several years ago I built 3 very small sailing ships and one PT-109 torpedo boat. It was fun getting away from airplanes, but my 4 ship/boat was placed on the kit's stand.

Later on I built two seaplanes and made a water base using Futura Floor Wax right out of the bottle.

Thanks for posting a great looking model.

  3. Well done Manuel! Great first post!

I've built an earlier AB DDG, Hobby Boss's USS Hopper, same scale. It was an enjoyable build. You've done well with the paint work. There will always be those who say oil-canning a 1/700 ship is pointless, but it looks very subtle on your build, and adds good effect. Also the sea base looks great, "Haze gray and underway!"

  4. Looks marvellous, Manuel.
    Well done!

  5. Lovely work Manuel, great attention to the detail and base work.

  6. Great job, ship and sea base.
