Another Sherman

October 23, 2020 · in Armor · · 9 · 1.7K

As I waited for paint to arrive for my Sky raider, I decided to build a . Since I also have a 1/48 Tiger, I planned on building a diorama for the movie Fury. The Sherman didn't work out so the diorama won't be of the movie scene. I've found that 1/48 is a good scale for tank dioramas as my 1/35 vehicles would require a base that would be too big. I didn't read the label on enamel paint that I used for painting streaks and now it looks like it was in the rain. Overall it was a fun and enjoyable build.

  1. Amari, that looks great! Good assortment of pics, too. The weathering looks convincing, and the smaller details look great. I think my choice scale for armor would likely be 1/48 as well, having only ever built a 1/35 Tamiya Bulldog. Yours looks as though it could be 1/35.
I hear you on the rain (perfect reasoning), but if you wanted to seal it up with a spray can of matte coat, it wouldn't be too difficult, or expensive.

    • Thank you Andrew H @pb_legend, Thanks for the advice with the matte coat. I don't have an airbrush and I've tried applying matte coat with a paintbrush before which didn't work well but I have ordered a spray can of it for future purposes.

  2. Great build, Amari!
    Nice painting and weathering.
Hard to believe it is only 1/48!
I have yet to start building , but, with all this nice motivation, I might start.
    Well done on your build!

  3. Nice looking easy 8!

  4. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Good work on that model, nice and convincing when the scale is considered.
Seems it is ready for a rainy day diorama ... looking forward to it Amari.

  5. Thank you De4ever @de4ever.
