F-15E 333th squadron

October 6, 2020 · in Aviation · 9 · 1.6K

An F-15E from Academy, if you are watching my labeb below profile you would notice that I was working on this model. Here it is! I was working on this model almost 2 months, and I must say that I learned a LOT. You probably noticed that the F-15 is quite overweathered. Thats because I was trying new water based wash and I forgot that I have matt acrylic varnish under the wash... So I had to sand it down because I would be not able to remove the wash without of thinner (fortunately I had decals sealed with gloss varnish). But I think the model looks kinda unique. And the second mistake (if you are attentive you probably noticed it already) that I cracked the cockpit canopy and I still don't know how cracked the canopy, but I think I'll buy a new one.

I hope you enjoyed my build 😉

  1. very,very good 😀

  2. Very good looking Eagle, Adam. Those burner cans look great, as do your metallic paints. Base paint indeed looks well worn and weathered, but no worries, I like it. Experiment, and note what works and what doesn't.. That is how you learn. I used to do panel lines with acrylic black face paint, but primarily on cars that had gloss finish. It worked pretty well, but when re-entering the hobby, I found the other conventional alternatives work as-well or better. All said, I'd be happy to have that model in my case.

  3. Very nice, well used Eagle. Great work!

We all learn on every build. I think it looks great. Keep building!

  4. Great looking F-15! I'd leave the canopy ,it might cost the price of a new kit for a replacement.

  5. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
    You did very well Adam.
Those small problems you ran by ... take them as a learning opportunity that in the long run will finally develop your talent for painting and building models.

  6. Great job on this Eagle, Adam.
You solved your issues very well.

  7. Looks great! We all make similar mistakes, even though we've been modeling for half a century or more...

  8. Love your Eagle too, Adam. Canopy looks OK and the weathering looks very interesting and nice.
Great job on exhaust nozzles and ordnance, as well.
This is a cool looking Eagle!
