Icm 1/48 Polikapov Po-2
1/48 Polikapov Po-2 of the "Night Witches" 46th Tamahckoro Tb (Tamans Guard) Becha, Spring 1945. . Included at tge end of the pics are the Soviet women who flew these aircraft, on night time bombing raids behind German lines. Outstanding service, the Po-2 was loathed by the Germans.
Pictured is Natalya Metklin who passed away in 2005, and the last shot, some of the air crews at the end of the war in 1945.
Icm kit, rigging done with EZ-line. Loved every minute of this build. My tribute to Women aviators in combat. Much respect.

Turned out very nice...
Are the wing struts much trouble to install & get the wings positioned correctly ?
Paul van Acker said on November 24, 2020
Thank you.
Not at all. They fitted perfectly, slotted right in. I had it all in place, then looked to line it up, and didn't have to change a thing. ๐

I had the same experience with the Fine Molds Ki-10. I love when that happens. The Accurate Miniatures F3F is pretty good in that respect as well.

Thatโs good to hear... I saw one at the Flying Heritage museum in Everett Washington a couple years ago. Itโs a beautiful aircraft. It would be a nice one to add to the collection.

Great PO, nice detailing, instrument panels really stand out. What do those slogans translate to?
Paul van Acker said on November 24, 2020
Thank you. I don't know what they say, but I'd imagine something patriotic.

Thank you. I agree, it'd be great to see more. And they go together so well too.

I like this a lot. I've done the kit myself, and you have definitely gotten more than the most out of it. Also that you did it for the Night Witches. "Liked"

Great work Paul. I recommend to anyone interested in the "Night Witches" this neat little 4 minute animated documentary from a terrific online magazine called Aeon:

Animated aviation docs are a small but interesting genre. Another one I really like is about the injured B-17 being escorted to the coast by a gallant Me-109 pilot:
The creators did a reboot, which is much more CGI, but the simple animation of the original is maybe more charming. Enjoy.

I thought I'd had my fill of WWII planes but this is something else, thanks for sharing it with us, and respect to the brave crews. Definitely liked.
