An attempt at detailing

18 months ago I started the build of a 109

I wanted to cram as much detail in it as possible. I have since become older. However with all that detail and on/off build it has now finally reached the point where I declare it to be finished.

Amongst the details I may mention the following;

AM details included a few hatches and some brass guns. These were burnished by burnishing fluid.

I also opened the sidewindows. Could be better, but for an early attempt it is OK. To see the full build you may follow the link here: https://imodeler.com/groups/work-in-progress-aircraft/forum/topic/messerschmitt-bf109-g-4-italian-air-force-eduard-1-48/
It is in the Work-in-progress-aircraft group here on iModeler.

I am by no means a historian, and the background is just shortly described in the groupbuild - enjoy

  1. Congratulations,my friend @airbum!
Having joyfully followed your build thread, I am only even more happy to watch this beauty appearing at the headlines!
This is such a lovely and not extremely common camo. I love it a lot!
    Well done!

  2. Erik, @airbum
There is not another person I know who has as much knowledge about the 109 type as you do... Having said that, you carry this knowledge over to each one of your builds. Each time I take a look at one of your 109's, I'll see yet another little hidden detail that you have incorporated into your model. This one is no exception.

I have enjoyed watching you build your 109's in your various journals. I don't always comment as often as I should, but believe me, I do take a daily look at the work going on with your 109 Kindergarten builds. Thank you for sharing both your knowledge and your planes with us.

I pressed the "liked" button too... and I'm happy to see that Mother Nature has cooperated with you today, so you could take these pictures in the brightly shining sun.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🙂

    • You are too kind Louis (@lgardner). I just happen to have a lot of books 🙂
Always a pleasure when you pop up with a relevant comment during the build, revealing that you have been following along. Thank you.

And happy holidays to you and yours too.

  3. Turned out great Erik. I enjoyed following along

  4. That's a beautiful paint job, Erik!

  5. Terrific Erik!
Wow! You've completed 3 109's just in time for Christmas. Happy holidays!

  6. Great work on this Erik. I really like the 109 in Italian markings.

  7. A superb build, Erik @airbum
This Italian scheme is outstanding and shows your painting skills.
Can imagen that you gained some years after this amount of detailing, but it sure is worth it.
Really enjoyed your thread. Lots of things I learned there.

    • John @johnb, it is a really different sort of 109 in this version, and I like it a lot. As I mentioned earlier it may be re-visited some day 🙂

      • by the way, one of the tiny details that took some feddling was to position the tailwheel at an angle, but just adds a lot of interest in my humble opinion.
  8. This one is my favourite 109 from your assembly line (so far) Erik @airbum
The small details, wicked camo and a very well align landing gear really puts it one step above your other Messershmitt(en). Bravo Caro!

  9. Hi Erik. Nice one. Love the airbrush work. Looks great. Thumbs up.

  10. Turned out gorgeous! Well done Erik - the 109 factory continues to impress!
