Tamiya 1:48 Scale, P-38G, "Lightning"
Calling this one done...FINALLY...
After not spending time at the bench due to a lack of "Mojo", I finally sat me rump down, and got back at this kit.
Tamiya's amazing P-38F/G in 1:48 scale. I will not go into a major description of just how awesome this kit is, because many have already done so, and those reviews are readily available when searched.
What I will say is this. This kit is not your usual Tamiya "Shake and Bake kit. It is very, VERY involved and if you're planning on building it, make sure you follow the steps as they are laid out. Deviation can cause problems later in the build.
The fit of this kit is so tight and so precise, that it'll stay together even without glue. The engineering is terrific, and really has to be seen to be believed.
I used Tamiya paints throughout the build, Cutting Edge Decals, Eduard "Steel" belts, Quickboost resin gun barrels, stretched sprue antenna and thinned oils and pastels for weathering.
Markings are those of a P-38G, #11, "Tommie's Lucky Penny", flown by Lt. Sidney W. Weatherford, 48th FS, 14th FG, North Africa, August, 1943:

Yet another excellent FreddieJob! I like the looks of this a lot. Definitely looks "ridden hard and hung up wet" in the North African desert.
I think the Mojo just needed a push.
Beauty. I hear ya on the mojo thang. I've gone to my desk many times full of interest and then I'll stare at the bench for a few minutes and walk away. Thankfully for me it only lasts a few weeks

Fully agree on the fit of this kit, building it myself at this moment, and as you said, each and every piece stays in place without using glue.
