Burma Bandit…1/48 MiG-29SE (9-13) Myanmar Airforce

January 2, 2021 · in Aviation · · 6 · 2.7K

Built in 2017.

Took a bit longer to complete due to several (selfinflicted) problems. Mounted the nozzles inverted but could fix it. Then followed the camoplan in the Caracal instructions but that was wrong and reshaped the camo. When my dad started with the decals we realized that GWH accidentally packed a 9-13 upper fuselage part in the kit box instead of a 9-12 one. Luckily Myanmar has also a bunch of SE beside the A models, so once again camo reshaping. Used RAF style codes from Fantasy Printshop as new numbers. And to round things up, my dad broke the canopy and had to use a new one from another kit.
The light and dark grey-blues are selfmixes, the middle blue is Gunze H25 Sky Blue (The dark grey-blue should be a bit brighter and the radome grey a bit darker but my dad had enough of re-painting ). Stencils from the kit, national markings from Caracal Models. Brake lines added with plastic rods and lead wire.

    Love it already!
Add to that the usual excellent Spreitzhofer Family quality, and we have a jewel here!
First time I see a Myanmar MiG-29 model built.

    • Thanks very much!
Back then my dad and I were looking for a multicolor scheme that you don't see built all the time. At first we tended to do a Bangladesh plane which has a very similar camo to the Burma one. In the end we chose the latter one.

  5. A great build and I love the scheme! Nice choices!
