Fancy Friedrich...1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109F-2, 5./JG52

January 27, 2021 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.6K

Built a couple of years ago. kit, Iliad Design decals, Gunze and Tamiya paints used. EZ Line for the antenna wire and brake lines added. Airbrush job done freehand, so there´s some paint spray, hard to avoid.
This aircraft wears some kind of experimental camo, most likely for flying over the sea. It´s assumed that French or Dutch paints were used.

  1. Great looking 109, Reinhard.
Wondering how many 109's you have on display.
I do indeed recognize the colors used for Dutch planes.
    Love this experimental camouflage.

  2. Another Spreitzhofer masterpiece!
    Amazing paint job!

  3. Great camo scheme and another excellent build.

  4. Very unique and well painted scheme!

  5. Another two beautiful 109s! Love them both. I considered adding a T, and now I might have to do so. Love the paint scheme on the F, but don't know if I could pull that off in 1/72...

  6. I love the out-of-the-ordinary scheme.

This is an eye opener Reinhard.
Love that scheme, it definitely sets it apart from the rest, it is very unique.
Nice work on the subtle weathering.

  8. Great build and love the camouflage scheme.
I recall seeing a colour photo of this (or a squadron mate) in one of my books, although the colours tended to purple rather than brown.
But, who can trust a reproduction of a WWII era photo?
Your scheme makes much more sense.
