Piaggio P 166 Scratch Build 1/32 Scale Part 2, wings and engines.

January 23, 2021 · in Aviation · · 25 · 2.5K

Well its time for another post on the Piaggio Build, This build is totally different to anything I have scratch Built previously, lots and lots of different challenges but also a lot of fun.

Building that inverted gull wing... well lets just say that I found out that I suffer from Tourettes Syndrome. Man it was a challenge, but I got it right at the end.

Each facet of the build had a challenge, and something to learn, but I am having so much fun, I want to do another twin engine aircraft after this build, Any Ideas?

Hope you like the pictures, If you have any questions, please let me know,

Happy New Year to you all.

Keep safe during these crazy times,

Marc

  1. Incredible, scale modeling at its best! @marc

  2. Marc - That's some seriously impressive wiring and detail you've done on the engine. I can see how the wings must have been a royal pain but it's all looking great. I am beyond impressed that you are scratch building this Piaggio.

Perhaps you should consider tackling a 1/32th Pucara next, although Kinetic just released a new tool kit of it in 1/48th scale.

  3. The usual exacting Marc Barris standard of excellence. One straaange airplane.

How did I miss that you'd gone off your meds again and started another one? 🙂

  4. Amazing work, Marc @marc!
It must be a wonderful feeling to create your own parts!
How about a SAAF Beechcraft Queen Air for your next project?

  5. With that kind of insane scratch building you are entitled to any tourettes you want/need. You really can call yourself Mr Compound curve now. Oh man!

Twin engines? Why not stick with the Piaggio theme. Both the Piaggio 808 and 180 are unusual yet pretty and interesting. Jet or prop, tough choice.

  6. Great progress Marc, lovely details, I would like to see a large GAF Nomad, N22B or N24A !

  7. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Marc ... I just love this project. True , it is a little strange, but that is what calls out attention.
Great work on the details, especially that involving the engines, beautiful work.
I will follow this project for sure.

  8. Hello Marc, @marc
You have made some wonderful progress ! I'll bet the gull wings gave you quite a fit trying to get them formed just so... but it looks as if you have won. Your skills always impress me. I especially like the wiring details you added to the engine. It's up to your typical top notch standards.

My vote is for a 1/48 scale Mitsubishi G3M "Nell"... a WW2 era Japanese twin engine bomber.

    • Hey there Louis, Great to hear from you, we don't do 48th scale in this Mad House, the G3M would look good in 32nd scale though, Thanks for the comment buddy.

  9. Looks amazing, as usual!

How about an L-200 Morava? Similar curvy shapes, but much smaller and straight wings.

  10. Un. Stinking. Believable! You have outdone yourself!

    How 'bout an S-3 Viking?

  11. Lovely work buddy. Really looking forward to seeing this one done. As I've said before, I'm really impressed with your modelling skills.

  12. Excellent! This one looks both challenging and a lot of fun to do. Great engine detail.
