T-Birds in the North…1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109T-2, 11./JG11

Another fancy 109 scheme ? built in 2014 by my dad.

kit (JG77 boxing), included the lengthened wingtips and slats and the different charger intake as resin parts. Sadly the slats were too short so my dad used a piece of the kit´s plastic ones to bring them to the right length. Decals from the spares box, the "6" should have a green outline but found no such number. The flames are painted, the flat wave on the fuselage band was done with parts of "s" letter decals. The cover, as can be seen on the original aicraft, on the air-intake under the prop was scratch. Gunze and Tamiya paints used.

The model shows the aircraft of Oberleutnant Christmann which served with JG11 in the Far North.
The (de)navalized version of the Toni found use in the north for coast guarding and encountering allied bombers and ship convoys from 1941 to 1944. Serving with JG77, Jagdgruppe Trondheim, Jagdstaffel Helgoland, Kommando Skagerrak and JG11.

The books "Sea Eagles" by Francis Marshall and "Profiles in Norway Pt.3" by Kjetil Aakra and Arild Kjaeraas were used as reference.

  1. Another masterpiece from the Spreitzhofer family. The slats extra piece is unnoticeable.
    Painting is exceptional.
    Congratulations!

  2. Very nice work Reinhard - it certainly looks the part.

  3. Uau! The camo was done perfectly, it’s a very striking scheme. Thumbs up!

  4. And another great build by your dad, Reinhard.
    Awesome build and dito paintwork.

  5. I like this camo a lot. Very nice, great build!

  6. Very nice result with what I know from experience is not an easy conversion.

FWIW - A&A Models (Modelsvit) has done the Toni in 1/48 as an injection kit. It's as good as the other Modelsvit/AMG/Dora Wings 109s are.

  7. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
An attractive build by your dad Reinhard.
    Nice and well achieved scheme.
