  1. Nice job! The "black" looks amazing. Well done

  2. It's pretty tough getting something that is supposed to be invisible to radar and the naked eye at night to look interesting.

Brian, I like the cockpit photos and the underside photo's of the landing gear showing the details. Dropping the flaps and moving the vertical stabs adds interest to the angular look of the F-117.

Apparently, several of a/c have been taken out of storage and have been seen flying in San Diego as of late. A interesting aircraft that was based on the theories of a Russian scientist whom the Russian's thought was not worth the trouble. These planes where made in the Carter era. There like the Tom Brady of stealth tech.

    Two thumbs up.

  3. It is not easy to make a black scheme look interesting! Brian, you have nailed it. The subtle tonal variations makes the black paint look great. A masterpiece sir!

  4. I just wish you would post the pictures directly onto iModeler, it's so easy, I can't access anything on flickr here in China.

  5. This is a great looking plane. It's very hard to get a "Flat Black" scheme to look interesting but you have made it happen with the different tones. I especially like how the exhaust area looks. I built one of the old Monogram kits up and posted it here several months ago. I will be the first to tell you that your plane looks much better than mine does... by a long shot.

Well done ! As Morne put it, a "masterpiece". 🙂

Having one of the actual shoulder patches from the group pushes up the cool factor by at least 10.

  6. This is a great Nighthawk, Brian!
    Looking forward to your F-35!

  7. Very nice one, Brian.
The overall finish and details are looking great.

  8. Why is there a "37th Tactical Fighter Wing" badge on the tails, when the 8th Fighter Squadron is a part of the 49th Fighter Wing?

    • Jim I will fix that thanks . Sometimes the Caracal instructions are confusing

      • Really nice build, Brian. I worked on these at Tonopah, that's how I know. I have built the Testor's 1/48 metal F-117, and 2 Monogram ones. I have the Tamiya also, and seeing your great work, I feel motivated to build another one. FWIW, if you have or see a book about the -117 by Randy Jolly and Robert Shelton, it is a great resource. Bobby Shelton was the wing Public Affairs NCO while we were in Saudia Arabia, and Bobby is the one that took all the pictures in the book. Especially the "nose-art."

  9. Great job "modulating" the black finish, Brian. That is Really hard to do and make look "real".

  10. The Black Jet, you did well in getting the blotchiness and uneven finish that is difficult to do on a black scheme. 3rd Stealth Fighter so far this year and still early. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Nice! all of the above.

  12. The finish is what puts this into the winner's circle. Getting the most monochromatic color to look interesting is a real achievement of skill and talent.

  13. I also love the modulation of the finish - I'm going to have to use yours as a reference when I get around to building mine! Excellent build.
