  1. This is example of incredible dedication to detail. How long did you work on this ship? Well Done !

    • Thanks Jay, it took me longer than expected due certain circumstances at home, work and the run up, and Christmas itself, if you had take that away it would probably have been about 3 months, still allowing for 12hr shifts at work, but ended up taking me 5 months.
I am happy with the end product, not sure if I could have added anything to it.

  2. Beautifully done! Fantastic work done on the sails and flags.

  3. Amazing work Robert.
These ships sailed slower than slow and rolled and pitched a lot. Lots of Ballast needed !
Your work honours the Amazing sailors that catered to the pump and circumstance of a Royal Wedding.

  4. Well done, Robert!
Kudos to your skills and patience!

  5. Really well done, and a beautiful display. Not something I would, or even could do, but incredible display of skill and a display of naval history.

  6. Wow, that is really impressive.
Hand sewn sails, 140 cannons and lots of other outstanding elements.

    • Thank you very much John, yes took a bit of doing, but patience is the key, I think when your building a kit, you really need a feel for the model you are building, that gives you passion and impetus to go that little bit extra. ?⚓?

  7. Beautiful rendition of a 16th century ship, and a mighty ship it was. I remember reading in one of my naval books dedicated to the rise of the first naval empires, of which Portugal was the first, that Portugal naval artillery was cutting edge (both in range and accuracy) in the late 15th to 16th century, sometimes a handful of ships defeating hundreds of Arabian or Indian ships. Once that advantage was lost, other European navy’s started to sail in waters that were until then rule by the Portugal.

Your model could very well be at any naval museum, such are the details in it

    • Thank you very much Pedro, all I add are certain details, tbh the detail is in the Architectural mouldings which the modeller can bring out with some time and patience.
Thank you for your kind words

  8. I am in awe of your craftsmanship. The real ship must have rolled like nobody's business on a rough sea.

    • Thank you very much Greg, yes they must have been quite hard to sail in, albeit that's why they needed professional seasoned sailors especially on journeys.
      that took months to complete.

  9. No way I’m sailing all the way from Portugal to India in that thing! Beautiful work on a classic, love the sails and flags!

  10. Rigged Sailing ships are a bridge too far for me. However I do enjoy looking at them especially well done ones like this build.

  11. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Robert, I will be truthful to you ... this is a subject and build not seen much.
Looking at this model only makes the following question more proper ... Why NOT !
In my eyes ... this is truly a masterwork.
Your skills, patience and determination can well be seen as the fun you had in this project.
Great work and thank you for sharing these photos.

    • Thank you very much for your kind words DE4EVER I'm no expert and never will be, but learning all the time, we can only do our best in all walks of life.
      Thanks again ?⚓
