Tamiya 1/48 Ki-61-I Tei Hien 19th Sentai

February 1, 2021 · in Aviation · · 9 · 1.7K

I finished this model a couple of weeks ago. I don't have much to add regarding the build, other than it was my first modern kit and it basically assembled itself. the plane was painted to represent one of the Ki-61 that were captured on Clark Field in early 1945. Paints used were a combination of AK Real Colors and Mr Color and weathered with Tamiya Panel liner and W&N oils.

  1. Really great model of the ubiquitous Hien. One of the best green meandering of the Ki-61 I’ve seen in models, thumbs up

  2. Really nice result. That camo scheme is hard to get right, but you did it.

  3. Very interesting camo, Woody.
Very difficult but you did it very well.

  4. Woody: All three of your Empire builds look outstanding. Superb camo work.

Welcome to Imodeler. Thanks for posting these builds of yours in our ever growing Empire of Japan group build. I sincerely appreciate the effort you put into posting these builds of yours here too.

Your Ki-61 looks even better posted here in the headlines section. You did a magnificent job with it. Yours is one of the best (if not THE best) models built of the Hien that I have seen. These new tool Tamiya kits are some of the nicest building models on the market. Like you, I have built this new Tamiya kit. It ranks as one of the nicest and most enjoyable builds I have ever done in my humble opinion... It is a lot of fun to construct.

Well done my freind, and I pressed the "liked" button too.

  6. A superb build, Woody @wkubacki!

  7. Well done! A unique paint scheme also.

  8. Beautifully done. I'm off to hit the like button!
