Xi´an JH-7A 1/48 AAmodels

March 14, 2021 · in Aviation · 10 · 2.6K

Two years nightmare is ended. Kit from 1996 year. Very bad, but only one in 1/48 scale. I build new cockpit on two version, new canon, new pod, new pitot tube, new... etc etc. I use resin nozzles for Hasegawa Phamtom FGR.2, because China use licensed this engines. I know this is really not my the best kit,but i am very happy, that have this beast 🙂

  1. Thanks for the in-progress shots, Josef. Definitely a triumph of skill and stubbornness over plastic. I like your result a lot.

  2. I understand the "only one available" dilemma, and have built some pretty horrid kits as a result. I really like your effort.

  3. A very unique model, Josef! Congratulations!

  4. Congratulations on your modeling skills and your super result, Josef @joeross!
You've done a wonderful job on this very difficult kit.
    Your improvements are great.
I love this plane: it looks "different".

  5. It looks excellent from where I'm sitting (in China), definitely liked.

  6. A great build, nice work!

  7. Great result of a not so often seen build, Josef.

  8. I had that kit for a spell, amazing job!

  9. Congratulations on your fine build...! The JH-7 "Flying Leopard" is a Chinese workhorse, and really needs a good kit to represent it. You have managed to take one of the crudest kits every made, and turn it into a great model. Excellent!

For those who may be interested (and may have wondered where the Rolls-Royce Spey engines from British Phantoms wound-up), the Chinese bought them and used these engines in the Xian JH-7. Josef's use of the engine nozzles from the Hasegawa FGR.2 is quite correct.

    Great work, Josef!

  10. Very nice build! I built Trumpeter's 1/72 version of this beast - just too cool an aircraft not to have in the display case!
