1/48 Eduard P-39N

April 10, 2021 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.8K

P-39N Profipack kit. I just finished this today. While looking through my stash last month I found this kit partially built in the box. I had started it in 2014 and then put it away probably because I really don't have the room for much in 1/48th scale. I decided to finish it anyway. The only things added were a Ultracast seat and exhaust. The markings are from the kit and it was painted with MRP paints. I have always liked the Airacobra, so am happy to have one finished in 1/48 even if it does take up a bit more space. I had scanned a old Bell Aircraft advertisement from a 1940's era aviation magazine that I had years ago so it made a nice display.

  1. Those Bell ads were the most blatant BS any airplane company ever put out. "You can be 20,000 feet in the sky..." Yeah, after wallowing up there over an hour, and being nearly out of control for lack of power due to no supercharger. "And in 60 minutes you can be 400 miles away..." Only if you can stay in a 45-degree dive at full throttle the whole distance.

But yes, a really nice-looking airplane, and Chuck Yeager even called it his "favorite" for pure flying - "as long as I was under 10,000 feet."

Very nice work on this, sir.

  4. Very nice build, Geoffrey.

  5. Excellent build, Geoffrey!
    Great painting and weathering!
Love the display idea, as well!

  6. Great looking Cobra Geoffrey, also one of my favorite A/C along with the P-40. The Russians had lots of success with the P-39 mainly because most of their air battles were fought under 15.000 feet. Good job, I like it.

  7. I don't too much about aircraft, but I've always liked the look of the Airacobra for some reason, your 1/48 version came out great, definitely liked.

  8. Looks great! Nice work on this.
