1/72 Airfix RAF Rescue Launch

May 19, 2021 · in Ships · · 6 · 2.4K

Now the PT boat is finished I have started to build the RAF Rescue Launch.
I will be building it as No 172 as seen at Malta and rearranging the kit supplied number 127 to 172. Looking at a B/W photo it looks to have the yellow deck & cabin roof. B/W photo attached.

  1. This Airfix 1/72 boat looks really amazing, Phllip!
    Looking forward to it!

  2. Very nice. I really like the 1/72 scale ships. They make for great size comparison . Especially this one, being able to pair it with RAF Planes.
I Look forward to your progress.

  3. Looking forward to your build, Phillip (@phillipe50). I have this kit in my stash and would like to follow your lead and build the PT Boat/RAF Launch as a pair.

  4. Hi George. Many thanks for the compliment. I personally would build the RAF Rescue Launch with either the Airfix Vosper MTB or Supermarine Walrus flying boat as a pair.
The PT boat is done in the late 1945 Pacific war colours. I might obtain a model of PT109 to go with it.
I am going to purchase either an German E boat or later S Boat to go with my Airfix Vosper MTB that I built last year.

  5. This is a great kit considering the age of it , I have it built here on my articles gallery, I love the curving lines of the hull and the yellow deck looks great, I can't wait to see your take on it .
