Hell´s Angels…1/48 Curtiss Tomahawk Mk.IIb, American Volunteer Group
Built over 6 years ago. The "infamous" 1/48 Trumpeter kit..lol
At first my dad wanted to do a RAF North Africa a/c but during the build he decided that it should be a Flying Tiger. Found a nice scheme in Kagero´s P-40 Vol.I, the aircraft of Bill Reed, AVG 3rd PS "Hell´s Angels" in China 1942.
It can be seen on the original pics, that at least the left nose gun barrel is longer, but as I said the decision to do this a/c was made when my father already had built up the fuselage and he didn´t want to change the barrel(s) in fear of damaging the model.
Kit mostly oob, Aeromaster decals, Quickboost exhausts, landing gear support struts are scratch because the kit has none, British style pitot tube was taken from the classic Revell kit, also the British Roundels, paints are selfmixed acrylics, EZ Line for the antenna wires, brake lines added.

Maybe the longer barrels were retrofitted later on 🙂

This came out really nice, the infamous part disappears on how your father made it. He has an eye on bringing out the best from these kits. A jaw dropper it is! ?.
Everybody needs a Flying Tiger on their shelves, and you dad completed a beautiful build here.

On my personnel view, this is the image that comes to mind when a P- 40 is mentioned.
