Mean and Green Down Under...1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII, 79 Sqn RAAF

May 16, 2021 · in Aviation · · 8 · 2.1K

kit built in 2016. Wanted something different than the usual two-tone camo so I suggested my dad to do a Foliage Green Aussie Spit. Sadly the decal aftermarket for green Spits isn´t big. Finally I found a nice sheet from (Czech made, good quality, but limited series of 200pcs) which included one green scheme.
Used Eduard Super-Fabric seatbelts and Eduard Brassin block tread wheels, painted with Gunze H302 for Foliage Green and Gunze RLM65 for Sky Blue.

The model shows the a/c of Sqn Ldr Ron Susans, 79Sqn RAAF, first Mk.VIII raised through the Australian Victory Bond.

Magnificent ! This is something that you typically don't see in these colors. It was an excellent suggestion.

  2. Nice to see a different livery on spitfires! Good job!

  3. Superb build in every detail, Reinhard.
Good choice to have a Spifire in RAAF colors.

  4. Love an out of the ordinary Spitfire. Spreitzhofer Flugzeugwerke wins again!

  5. Great job on your spitfire, looks great in green.

  6. Really like the weathered green.

  7. Another joint forces Spreitzhofer masterpiece.
I love the single top green!

  8. That's a great Spit! Seems odd to see bombs hanging off the elegant dogfighter, but the S. Pacific was all about "make what you got do what you need!"
