Spanish Civil War...1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109A, 2.J/88 Legion Condor

Like the recently posted "6o30", also this model was built somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago.
kit, AFAIR my dad did some minor corrections to the nose or did some rescribing to get a more correct "A", also possible that he repositioned the oil cooler.

There´s still some discussion about the colour regarding these early batch. AFAIK these 109s were painted with some kind of translucent anti-corrosion/protective paint over bare metal. The cellulose in it made it look kinda greyish or grey-greenish.

  1. Such a tasty A model. Excellent work.

  2. Another great looking Spanish Civil War 109.

  3. Another great one, Reinhard. Well done. The colors on the first 109s sure is a mystery. A clear coat? That’s the first I’ve heard of that one. I’ve heard bare metal, painted silver, light gray.

  4. another good-looker!

  5. Yep, another Spreitzhofer masterpiece!

  6. Another great early 109, Reinhard.

  7. Nice work on the old kit.

Nobody is ever going to come to a conclusion about these airplanes, since there are no color photos to decide with.

  8. Again another nice build, great looking 109.
