Airfix Handley Page Victor K.2/SR.2 1:72

July 12, 2021 · in Aviation · 15 · 2.3K

I was gifted the Revell version of the Handley Page, after 10 days of frustration it went into the trash. Literally one of the worst kits I've ever had... huge gaps, very poor quality. What happened to Revell?

I then purchased the Airfix kit. WOW a whole other level. Fun kit. Loved it. You get what you pay for most times 🙂 Went with my own paint scheme, literally hundreds of decals to choose from. Big kit, would not fit in my photo box. lol.

  1. You created indeed a great looking Victor, Jon.
I saw one of these while being restored in Duxford, what an impressive plane it is.
    Well done.

  2. Jon,

Your build is worthy of being a box top kit. A smart, clean and tight build. It really shows the Victor off and brings out the best in the kit.

    Two thumbs up.

  3. Two thumbs up from me as well, Jon!
    This is a wonderful model!

  4. In all fairness to Revell the Victor wasn't their kit. It is from old Matchbox molds. I have one, but am building the vastly superior Airfix kit! I like the jig you have yours on. Do you use that while building to keep things in alignment?

  5. Beautifully done!

  6. The Revell kit is actually the ancient Matchbox kit.

Beautiful work on this - I think their Victor kits (I did the bomber) are among their best. You've definitely gotten the most from it.

  7. Nice work, Jon! That’s an awesome kit. I built the bomber and loved it.

  8. Nice build! It is an interesting design and plane. I am an Air Force brat and there was a RAF precense on the SAC base my dad was stationed at. I loved seeing these and the Vulcan fly for the show. Nice work on your build it looks like a good and big kit.

  9. Excellent build of this iconic aircraft.

  10. Yeah, I think a lot of those old Matchbox/Revell Victors were “gifted” upon unsuspecting modelers when the Airfix kit was issued a couple of years ago. Great job on a cool- looking jet.

  11. Beautiful build Jon. You've captured it in spades. Sleek, mean & so different. This would be my favourite 'V' bomber & yours is the first model I've seen. You've convinced me (as if): it's now on the 'must have' list. Santa Claus; I'm hoping you read this!

  12. Nicely done Jon, looks good and different in grey.

  13. That's a lovely Victor! Love the V-bombers.
