  1. This is one of my all time fave kits, David. You have done a particularly spectacular job paint job and conversion build with this somewhat difficult kit. What did you use for the tarmac base?

    • Thanks very much for your kind comment!
The base is a jpg I downloaded from the internet. It's been resized appropriately, the colouration and contrast altered then printed off and sealed with matt varnish.

  2. Excellent result, David Paul!
The basic kit itself is not among the easiest, the Alley Cat conversion, though comprehensive, would have surely required its extra attention and effort.
    Congratulations!

    • Thank you!

Yes the kit is a little tricky in places, mainly the very pronounced wing droop and the poor fit of the nacelles. The droop was overcome by heating the wing halves with ridiculouly hot water (I really don't know what they put in the plastic!) then tweaking until they were straight.

I then araldited some lengths of fibreglass rod inside to keep them straight.

I can't recommend the Alley Cat set highly enough, definitely the best resin conversion I've used. Little distortion and no significant problems fitting it to the kit.

  3. Beautifully done!

  4. Really nice model! I like the camo, but my brain immediately said those propellers are to close! I bet it was loud in that cockpit!

  5. Seriously good build.

  6. Very nice result on this not so often presented TA154, David @davecope109
Maybe not an easy kit but you turned it into a realistic looking night fighter.
    Especially the paintwork looks awesome.

  7. Really great job on this. I've had this kit and conversion set in the storage closet for years maybe it's time to get at it.

  8. I have the Pro-Modeler version of that kit. Your results are spectacular, especially with the incorporation of all that resin. I love that scheme and have done a couple of models with variations of that scheme. Yours turned out really nice, with the right amount of weathering, considering the service life of the aircraft. Aside from the resin addition, I understand this is not an easy kit to build. Is that correct?

    • Thank you Walt! The main problem areas of the kit are the wing droop and the fit of the nacelles. The wing was fixed with hot water and some additional strengthening. The nacelles would need plenty of filler around the joint with the wing however, this wasn't such an issue with the conversion as the kit nacelles weren't used.

  9. A great-looking build - don't see many 154s! I like the camo choice.

  10. Nice result on the Mosquito.

  11. Hi David
Great job on the Ta 154 . How did you remove the flash from the delicate antenna's without breaking them ? Cheers Alan

  12. Thanks Alan. The antenna were part of the resin conversion set and were excellently cast with little or no flash. Unfortunately they have been broken several times since construction!

  13. Thanks for getting back to me ,David. Yes, those antenna are fragile.
How did you achieve the nice dark panel lines ?
