Bandai Mandalorian Razor Crest

September 18, 2021 · in Sci-fi · · 11 · 3.5K

My first post here is the new Vehicle Model series from the tv series.

It's another lovely little kit, snaps together in 10 minutes and is nicely detailed.

Primed with Tamiya grey primer and then gloss black TS-14 before a top coat of Alclad chrome. Detailed with Tamiya panel accent, fine marker pens and the kit stickers. Unfortunately these kits come with stickers, not decals.

As you can see I also got the Tantive IV blockade runner.

I'm hoping that the Revell/AMT 1/72 Razor Crest coming out later this year will be of good quality.

  1. Great entrance , Kevin @injidup
A model in ten minutes! That is even faster than buying one.
Jou did a fantastic job in such a short time.
    Welcome to this community

  2. Welcome to site. Great looking spacecraft.

  3. Wonderful entry, Kevin!
and in just 10 minutes: you are the man!
    Welcome aboard!

  4. 10 minutes to build, I can believe it. I put together their C3P0 figure in less than 2 hours.

I can't say enough about how those Bandai kits are so well designed. Their designers and engineers do such a really good job limiting seams and designing parts.

I'd say a notch above Tamiya's crew for making the building experience hassle free.

I do wish that they'd take a swing at real life subjects, but Gundam/Star Wars is too lucrative for them.

    • I also have the C-3PO and R2-D2 kit. My only gripe is that they split R2's dome in half. I used Testors stainless Metallizer on the halves and put it together but the crack is still visible. Guess I'll have to mask all the blue panels, fill and respray. The rest of the kits though, holy cow. Don't let the snap fit assembly fool you, they are fantastic!

      • What I did was leave off all the inserts and fill/sand/polish the seams.
Painted everything and then inserted the final painted parts into the dome.

  5. The first Bandai kit I built was the 1/72 Millennium Falcon that a friend with Motor Neurone Disease asked me to build. It is a lovely kit and got me into these smaller “vehicle models”. I’ve made a few now…
I also have the C3-PO still to build (made R2-D2 already) and K-2SO was great to build. I put leds in his eyes (from Tyridium Models) but did my own leds in R2. I agree about R2, the dome could have been better engineered.

  6. The massive Millennium Falcon, and the vehicle model for comparison…
    +30cm vs 8cm diameter!
    $600 vs $25!

  7. Thanks for all the comments!

I have just received the Revell 1/72 Razor Crest. It’s massive compared to the Bandai version! Looks nicely detailed, though. I will start building soon, once I have finished the rather poor Airfix Concorde prototype in BOAC colours.
