Not an Emil!
The dust has barely settled on my last post (yesterday's Bf109E-7) and I'm already sharing another one, but there's a reason for it!
The model is FineMolds' recent Mitsubishi A5M2b "Claude", done with the kit decals in the markings of the IJNAF's Hyakurihara Naval Air Group as stationed in Japan in the late 1930s. Lap belts were added but the kit is otherwise 100% stock, just as it came from the box.
The silver paint is Floquil Old Silver, while the red came from one of those little square Testors bottles. The decals, which performed flawlessly, came from the kit. Weathering was kept to an absolute minimum to reflect the age of the airplane in service (almost brand new in this instance) and its overall condition as an airplane stationed in Japan rather than China.
There's not much else to say about the model---it's a recent FineMolds kit and almost builds itself with only minimal assistance required from the modeler! As for the reason this post falls almost on the heels of the one from the day before; I wanted to prove that I build things that don't have black crosses on them too!

When you've got it flaunt it. Especially, when using Floquil Old Silver. It is one of the best paints for painting silver/metal aircraft. Some folks like to study and learn for the efforts of other modelers and the best way to do that is post 8 to 12 photos. One of those teach a man how to fish things.
Your Claude looks to be well done and is smart and sharp in the paint dept. More photo's please.

Sweet looking build, Phillip (@phillipfriddell). I exhausted my stash of old Floquil silver a couple of years ago and I have been lost since.
Beautiful build, Phillip. 'Tis a pity that generation of Japanese naval pilots didn't like the full canopy of this version. I have the kit on my shelf and rather prefer the smoother contour.
My extra paint shelf also has a still good bottle of the original Floquil Old Silver - if I dare risking its xylene solvent with my old lungs - and I would imagine I have the Testor's square bottle red in the flat version - both of which surely dates me, how about you?
Please give us at least one photo through that clear canopy.

Very well done model. These are fun easy to build kits that modelers can make really shine with care.
It was an accident, Dan---I promise! (I actually noticed what I'd done after I did it, but at least we covered different schemes!)
John, I doubt you'll have much luck finding Old Silver unless you come across some on eBay. It's been out of production for quite a few years now, although a few of us still have a bottle or two around. It's going to be a sad day in my life when I use up the last of what little I've still got!

Beautifully done! I know what you mean about doing other builds, occasionally I've got to do builds that don't say Navy or are equipped with a tail hook.
