Tamiya 1:48 F-16C Block 32 Aggressor

October 21, 2021 · in Aviation · · 8 · 1.4K

This is my second and was completed in March 2021. I encountered a few small fit issues I don't remember from the first one, but I still really love this kit: clever engineering, not overly difficult, but still an interesting build. It's pretty much OOB, but I used a Sierra Hotel resin ejection seat I've been hoarding for several years. I also drilled out holes with a no. 96 bit and used small pieces of .006" ceramic rigging material for the twelve static discharge vanes on the wings and tail. Paints are SMS Premium acrylic lacquer (a new brand for me from Australia that I like very much) for the two blues, Mr. Color for the grays, and various Alclad shades for the exhaust. Decals are from an excellent Bullseye sheet as well as a Two Bobs sheet for some of the stores stencils. I chose to replicate SN 87-0267 of the 414th CTS at Nellis AFB as she appeared in several photos taken in 2001. At that point, she was wearing the second of three "Flanker" schemes and would be repainted in the third scheme less than a year later.

Cheers, Pip
