Eduard 1/48 Focke-Wulf FW-190A-5 "Minke & Pinke".

November 21, 2021 · in Aviation · · 10 · 1.5K

ProfiPack #82149 Focke-Wulf FW-190A-5.

Depicts the aircraft of Hans Philipp, who named it "Minke & Pinke" after his two Daschunds.

Lieutenant Colonel Hans Philipp (17 March 1917 – 8 October 1943) was a German World War II fighter ace who served in the Luftwaffe from 1936 until he was killed in action 8 October 1943 by a -pilot. It is believed that he was shot down by Robert S. Johnson. Philipp managed to bail out but his parachute never opened.

This is the newish release FW-10A-5 from Eduard, and aside from the very fiddly main landing gear, it goes together quite nicely. I've built a few of the First Gen FWs from Eduard, and despite everyone's bitching and howling, they weren't bad if you left all the panels open (which is how the kit was designed to be built.) This one, however, is -like compared to those early releases. The main gear legs are deigned to fit a very specific way, which to me, is wrong. I may have made errors contributing to this, but I ended up altering the mounting brackets and positioning the legs to where I saw them be appropriate.

That was literally the only drama incurred. This is a very great kit to build. The RLM 76 is MRP, and the 74/75 is Gunze-Sangyo Mr. Hobby Aqueous. The model was weathered with Ammo by Mig products, including Oilbrushers, Shaders, and Filters.

  1. Nice work on this. I like the shoulder harness "thrown to the side."

The design of the main gear on the new Eduard Fw-190s insures that it is correctly positioned. It looks like your modifications didn't change that.

  2. Nice work. I need to build one of these.

  3. Excellent Wurger, James!

  4. Really good looking Fw190, the Eduard kit looks pretty spectacular and you really did it justice.

  5. Great looking build and it looks very realistic.

The seatbelt is indeed a nice addition to the detailing.

  7. Nice Butcher Bird, James. Well done!

  8. VERY nice James. The surface detail on that model shows up really well.
