80 Years Ago: TORA! TORA! TORA!

December 7, 2021 · in Aviation · · 9 · 1.3K

FROM THE AUTHOR:

I would thank the group of "The 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor [..]" to invite me to do some of the group build.

The time frame was very tight. Aproxymately I had two an a half week to complete it. Therefore it was my fastest build ever (estimating average time of one project of mine is almost the duration of a pregnancy). I had chosen the basic kit. Due to time constraint it is OOB build with only basic wethering. It supposa to be an Pearl Harbour attack, therefore I decided to makeflying/hanging model. Effect is not very spectacular but I am proud to fulfill the deadline.

And I lost antenna in the end just before taking the picture:)

Enjoy!

  3. Painting looks superb! Cockpit are great! As I remember this plane had undersurfaces in Yellow-Orange color 🙂 I had photo of this plane in my sources. WHat paints did you use?

    • Hey,
I used Tamiya paints dedicated to Japan aircraft.
      I used also Vallejo silver.
Vermilion from Hataka and And Alclad aluminium.
I used also a few washes.
Thank for all of your support.

  4. Nice work. That kit looks well detailed, gotta love Airfix.

  5. Looks very nice Lukasz.
It’s good to do some builds not longer than pregnancy time!
    I can relate.
When the Tora, Tora, Tora movie came out I was very impressed with it. It showed The event from both sides . Something new at the time I believe.
Zero’s are amazing and good looking machines. The Airfix model nice too.

  6. Nice work on the Zero! That’s my favorite color scheme for those , especially with the heavy paint chipping.

  7. Looks great! - reminds me of my bedroom in grade school - all my models were hung from the ceiling with thumbtacks and thread.
