  5. A nice subject and work Maarten

My grandparents owned river barges and Cranes during WW2 and were forced to work for the Germans to ship and unload barges with ; Rhine Sand which is a course sand that was used to build Bunkers for the Atlantic wall.

I played I those fortresses as a kid so much !

Most are gone now but as time wore on they only poured concrete at the face where they expected the enemy to attack. I hope you don’t mind that I add 2 photos. The one shows the cinder block back sides.

  6. Thanks Bernard,

And no i dont mind ,
I do like to make a bunker out of Formstein one day ,and i think i have a good idea/way how to reproduce this .

    Ps
Many construction companies were eager to work for the Germans
Some even exict to this day (Well atleast here in the netherlands) it was good money.

  7. Nice one again Maarten. You should collect these together as an article. Despite how many bunkers there are still around they are hardly ever featured in modelling magazines.
