DIY Paint Stand

April 10, 2022 · in How-to · 6 · 1.2K

After hours of looking at paint stands on multiple different websites I was about to buy one off of Hobby Zone when I walked into my old modeling room and saw an old Valho wall paint rack on the floor. This gave me the idea to use the parts from the old rack to make my own paint stand. This not only was cheaper but it allowed me to make it the way i wanted it to be. The process was pretty simple but worked very well. Hope you enjoy !

I started by taking one of the pieces and cutting to 11 1/2 in ( 7 paints long ). I then took the bottom piece on the wall rack and cut it as well to 11 1/2 in long. For the base I used 1/8 in thick plywood cut 11 1/2 in by 5 1/4 in. I used these dimensions because I intend to use the stand for painting miniatures. But it could be made larger for larger models.

Next I cut small supports from some of the scrap I had left over. I then placed the supports at each end and in the middle. After letting the glue dry for an hour I glued the two pieces together.

This is very simple but it allows you to make it the way you want it to be and you can save some money. Thanks for reading.
