F4U-5 Hasegawa/Revell-Germany

April 21, 2022 · in Aviation · · 16 · 1.8K

Here's my build of the very nice -5 in the kit supplied markings of VF-14 Top Hats. Essentially out of the box with Model Master Glossy Sea Blue and a top coat of 50/50 Mr. Color Semi-gloss and gloss. I added just a bit of weathering using the Tamiya Weathering Master set for US Navy aircraft. I did add the clear wingtip lights. Those of you who have built this kit know of the step in the nose, easily corrected from the start. The wing to fuselage fit is great, the flaps not so good but there is a learning curve there. I'll know about the problem on the next build. It is clearly of the nicest models off my bench in a while. Thanks for looking and any and all comments are appreciated. Next up-the Hasegawa P-40E.

  1. Nice work! That’s one of my favorite kits.

  2. Awesome Corsair, looks great in this scheme!

  3. Fantastic Corsair, Clark!

  4. Very nice, Clark @clarkcook
Nice set of armament attached to it.

  5. Looking mighty fine Clark. it's hard to beat a well done GSB paint scheme with white markings. That is certainly one of my favorites. Your F4U-5 is very nicely done, and I compliment you for your patience in applying all those tiny markings decals. That bird is going to look very nice on display with others you've built. I look forward to seeing the P-40E you mentioned as your next project.

    • 10-4 on that Jim...My eyes are just coming back in focus. I agree, well worth the time. I can recommend Tamiya decal adhesive now to others. Bent Wings In Blue...I like that.

  6. Nice work on that F4U-5, Clark

  7. Looks great! The yellow highlights help that mono-blue scheme pop out more.

  8. Very nice Clark. That is a wonderful kit and you certainly did it justice!

  9. A tip of my flight cap Eric...thanks
