Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka Model 22 (1/72)
The Yokosuka Ohka ("cherry blossom") was developed by the Yokosuka Naval Air Technical Arsenal for the japanese navy in 1944 and put into service in 1945.
The Ohka was a rocket-propelled glide bomb designed for kamikaze operations.
The Allies' nickname was Baka-Bomb (Baka = i***t).
The Ohka was flown to the target area by a carrier aircraft and when it was within range of the target, it was released.
Then she went into gliding.
As soon as she was on course to the target, the rocket engine was switched on for the last "sprint".
The explosive device was located in the front part of the glider.
Several versions were made, including with different engines, armament, prototypes and trainers.
Brengun offers a typical short-run kit (BRP72034).
In my case, there was a lot of work to be done.
The fit was sometimes very problematic, which resulted in a lot of filling and sanding.
After that I had to rework all panel lines.
I also used the matching PE detail set (BRL 72166), but still had to add a few details myself.
The matching painting masks (BRL72165) and the trolley (BRL72178) were also used.
The trolley is resin cast and some bubbles need to be corrected.
I built the base myself again.
also created the sword, the table and the bowl in scratch, barrel and tool box come from the leftovers box.
The bucks were included in the set.
The pilot is a IJN pilot from CMK.
A little "fun fact" at the end:
I was told that the characters on the Japanese flag are upside down and it's written in chinese language.?- however?
