1/48 Brengun MQ-8B Fire Scout Helicopter Drone of HSM-35

May 20, 2022 · in Aviation · · 4 · 1.3K

This kit is an interesting subject. This is the MQ-8B Fire Scout. This is a built by Northrop Grumman and is used by the U.S. Navy. It is typically deployed on FFG's and LCS ships. The reason I chose this is I am a member of the International Plastic Modeler Society (IPMS). I belong to the Mckinstry Chapter and we have monthly meetings. Typically each month we have a theme. One of the upcoming themes is “Missiles and Drones”. I looked over the available model kits of drones and thought this would be a little different than the combat drones many are used to seeing.

This was built straight out of the box. This kit is made entirely of rather than the typical polystyrene plastic. I added some homemade decals to the nose turret and scratch built the navigation lights. Check out my build log for the build detail and photos at https://davidsscalemodels.com/build-log/1-48-mq-8b-fire-scout-drone/

  1. Great looking helicopter drone, David @davids_models
I didn't know that drones also existed in helicopter style.
Very interesting kit and beautiful looks.
    Well done.

  2. Indeed a very interesting subject, built per your usual excellent standards, David!
A great build thread as well!

  3. Nicely done! If manned aircraft are done by humans, should then drone aircraft be done by robots.

  4. A unique subject and well done build, David. The custom decals give this little bird some character.
