"Woody" Woodward's Hurricane Mk 1 trop., 33 Squadron, Egypt

June 27, 2022 · in Aviation · · 13 · 1.2K

"Woody" Vernon Crompton Woodward DFC and Bar RAF (22 December 1916 – 26 May 2000) was a fighter pilot and flying ace with the Royal Air Force during World War II. With 18 and 4 shared destroyed, 2 unconfirmed destroyed, 3 probable's, and 11 damaged, Woodward tied Henry Wallace McLeod as Canada's second highest scoring pilot of the war.
This is Ark's 1/48 poor quality mish-mashed copy of both the Hasegawa, and the old Airfix kits, and it's completion requires a high degree of stubbornness (IMHO).
It's finished in Tamiya and Aeromaster acrylics, and weathered with pastels and oils.

Thanks for looking,
Colin

  1. Trust @tail-dragon, the modeler who wields a sledgehammer the way the rest of us employ a #11 Xacto, to beat the enemy into submission yet again. 🙂

  2. Excellent model in desert camo.

  3. Congratulations of tackling tjis challenging kit, Colin and coming up with such a superb result!

  4. You did an excellent job on this kit, Colin @tail-dragon
Seems you were sufficiently stubborn to turn this one into a beautiful Hurricane.

  5. Excellent work Colin.
Seems the Hase Hurrricanes are being released again under the Hobby 2000 labels

    • Yes, so far all I've seen is 2 Mk I a's, and 2 Mk II a's. Which is good, but I haven't seen the Mk II b or the Mk II d (40mm canon anti-tank one)

  6. Your "stubbornness" paid off and you have a very fine model. Looks great. Woody would be proud.

  7. A real beauty! Looks fantastic.

  8. A great looking Hurricane!

  9. Looks great, Collin (@tail-dragon). I tried an Ark kit once and didn't get very far. You have brought out the best in this kit. Well done.

  10. great work with this not the best kit!
