1/48 Bf 109F-2

After I finished my Me 262 in May I decided to take a break from all things modelling. It was as if building was more work than recreation. The modeling urge hit me several weeks ago and I decided to do this Eduard Weekend version of the 109F in Hans von Hahn's markings. Aftermarket items are EagleCals decal sheet #139 and Quinta 3D cockpit decals. Both are top quality and easy to use. The EaglCal sheet thankfully supplies the circle camo for the fuselage and fin I added hand hold bars to the windscreen, to the hood, locking lever, open/close knobs to the sliding panels and the stay wire and spring. As usual I used lead wire for the brake lines and stretched sprue for the wires. The wing tip navigation lights are molded into the wing tip so they're in gray plastic. 109's had clear covers and colored bulbs so I filed out the clear area and added the bulbs and clear cover. This was one by drilling a hole where the bulb goes and use clear stretched sprue to represent the bulb. The clear cover was done using Micro Glaze filled in the recess with several applications. The model represents the aircraft that von Hahn piloted when he was Kommendeur of 1.JG 3 July, 1941 in Russia.
