1:12 Tamiya Ducati 888 track bike

August 31, 2022 · in Automotive · · 12 · 1.2K

Good day everyone. I haven't done any modeling for a number of years although I have a tidy stash in the cupboard. This is my first headline submission. It is my now complete 888 from in 1:12 scale. I am a fan of Ducati and the fortunate owner of two full scale bikes. I chose to use artistic licence on this build by using the colour scheme of my 797 Ducati Monster and build it as a "track bike". As with all Tamiya, the fit was faultless and the only deviation I made was to seperate the upper and lower parts of the fairing for display purposes. Besides that I scavenged a red number from a Kawasaki RR model which suited my colour scheme. Thanks for taking a look.

  1. Great to see this in Headlines, Rory, it looks fantastic, the engine detail in particular is really impressive. I definitely pressed the “like” button. What’s next on your build list?

  2. Your Ducati looks amazing, Rory @Rory
The chosen colors are great and match exactly your 1:1 bike.
    Well done.

  3. Amazing job, Rory, a supreme final result! A great build thread, as well.
    Keep them coming!

  4. Thanks George, John and Spiros for your kind comments. Not sure what is up next... I will go through the stash and pick a number.

  5. Great job on that Duck! Next to see all the valvetrain belts and dry clutch arrangement. Liked.

  6. Thanks Doug for your kind comments. Yes, the open valve train sold me on the kit, as well as being a Ducati fan. I am going to make a display stand for it and remove the lower fairing to display all the engine detail. Thanks for looking and liking!

  7. So cool @Rory! Great job on a marvelous machine! How does that Monster ride? I came so close to buying one several years back. 😀

  8. Hi .Gary,

Thanks for your kind words. The Monster is a great bike. Has a comfortable ride, enough power and loads of torque. It isn't a patch on my 748 performance wise, but as you get older, comfort plays a big part. Last weekend I did 240km without any discomfort

  9. Awesome 888 @Rory, I love that you took inspiration from the Monster there, is that your bike, flipped beauty both of them.

  10. Thanks for your kind comment @anthonyricco.

  11. @rory - very cool seeing the real bike in the background. Very nice work! The belt system on that things looks insane!

  12. Thanks for your kind comment @brithebuilder.
