North American FJ-4B Fury

This is the ID vacuform kit that I picked up in the sale bin at Colpar's in Denver about 8 years ago. It really hasn't been on the SOD that long. We moved from Colorado back to Kansas in 2014. - For a vacuform, this was well done with regard to shape. - The biggest headache was the intake trunking. Therefore, it has an intake cover. - the cockpit interior comes from many different places. Resin MartinBaker ejection seat. Archer details used- both interior and exterior. Airscale instrument decals. Many other pieces used from the parts box. - scratch built landing gear with wheels from parts box. -The drop tanks are modified F-86 tanks. The ones on the Fury were bigger for more fuel. -Added exterior detail that was needed and scratchbuilt. -New vacuformed canopy was made. -Once I got around to painting, I used Tamiya white primer spray on full kit, then Model Master, Tamiya, Alclad gloss coat, Testor's flat coat. -Decals were from several different sheets plus custom ones by club member Ted Berard. Made my own fuselage streaks. - This recently was entered in IPMS/national convention in Omaha. It didn't place. Looks nice from a distance, but I was getting tired of the build.
