Vought F4U-4B

August 22, 2022 · in Aviation · · 11 · 0.9K

VF-884 Bitter Birds Home based at NAS Olathe, Kansas. KoreanWar. -Flevo Decals. - -4B kit. -Barracuda resin wheels G- Factor landing gear. - Barracuda cockpit decals, aftermarket seatbelts -Model Master, Tamiya, Alclad gloss coat. - ignition wires added to rockets, added T, wire , and EZ line antenna. - VF-884 was a Naval Reserve squadron and when the pilots were recalled for Korea there was some grumbling. As a result, the squadron badge was a Jayhawk and the nickname became “Bitter Birds”. This is very cool for me, since most of my life has been spent within easy driving distance to this former base.

  1. Quite the quality model!

  2. Looking great. I'd like to do another F4U-4, not sure I'm willing to shell out for all the resin needed to make a good one in 1/48

  3. Well done, Steve (@jimmiesteve). Your weathering and fine details really bring the best out of this kit.

  4. Nice build! I’m reading the book Devotion in which the F4U-4 figures prominently.

  5. Another great build, Steve @jimmiesteve

  6. Hi Steve, all seven builds that you’ve posted are excellent, and deserve praise. However, and I hope you don’t mind me saying this, iModeler is a social modelling site, and posting so many builds at one time isn’t very sociable, you’ve grabbed most of the space on the front page for yourself.

  7. A great collection of recent builds! I love the scheme on the Claude and the P-6, and the Peashooter is fantastic. Well done.

  8. Great looking Corsair! Really like the VF-884 "Bitter Birds"/Jayhawk markings.
