Dassault Falcon 50; A-Model 1/72; Portuguese Air Force
Portuguese Falcon 50
The Falcon 50, designed and produced by the French factory MARCEL DASSAULT, is a tri-engine that, due to its characteristics and qualities, offers flexibility of use, safety in all its circumstances and excellent cruising performances.
The use of three engines in its design allows it to fly over areas with a hostile environment (oceans or deserts), being able to cover distances of about 5500 km without the need for technical stops for refueling.
In terms of equipment and instruments, it has the most modern that existed at the time, with avionics with several valences, namely the ability to aggregate a series of information on a single monitor, which gives it the possibility of approaching runways in minimum conditions of visibility, a pioneering concept at the time.
In Portugal, this aircraft is used in medical evacuation missions from the islands to the mainland, transport of organs and VIP travel, among other missions.
The model
This model was commissioned, at 1:72 scale, so there wasn't much choice in terms of the kit: it would be the 72293 from A-Model. This choice turned out to be painful as the kit is of very poor quality (a real nightmare, indeed).
After the construction phase, with many hours of putty and sandpaper work, I proceeded to apply a primer and fine sandpaper to ensure the best possible surface for the application of a glossy paint.
After painting and applying several coats of clear coat before and after the decals, and satisfied with the finish, I proceeded to a general polish.
Satisfied with the final result, I built a small display base for the model.
Overall it was a simple build, although a lot of work due to the poor quality of the kit.
Hope you like it.
Cheers,
Manuel
Taming the A-model Falcon is an accomplishment by itself, coming up with such a wonderful result is one-off achievement, Manuel!
Congratulations!

Great looking model, Manuel.
Thank you George, tried my best!
Having built a few Amodel kits before, I know your pains during the construction phase. It came out excellent in the end and that's what matters! Congrats!
Thank you!
Yeah, but I'll avoid that ones in the future 😉
Nice work on a tough kit.
thank you!
