Soviet torpedo bomber and long-range bomber of the Second World War.
The whole process of construction is briefly given. The main elements of the model were developed in Reno. The nose frame is soldered from 0.9 mm wire, sewn with PET stretched on a blank. The power set of the fuselage is made of foamed PVC 2 mm, sheathed with plastic 0.7 mm from the facing corners. The chassis frame is soldered from wire, the chassis struts are made of telescopic antennas from children's RU models. Wheels made of epoxylin, engine cylinders are cast from white metal, there was no printer then, they turned out heavy)). The model is sheathed with 0.2 mm aluminum for "Moment" glue. Almost every panel of the skin is a separate sheet, where it was more expedient the joint is marked with a knife, but there are several such pieces. A torpedo with a suspension system, a parachute container are printed on a DLP printer (I drew everything myself). There is a navigator and a pilot in the car, the shooter did not plant any more.

The length of the model is about 47 cm, the wingspan is about 70 cm.

  16. I have a question about the turtledeck behind the cockpit. I'm assuming it's grey on your model because like the rudder and elevator covering it too is not metal on the real plane. Do you know if this was a wooden structure and if it is why Ilyushin didn't make it a metal structure? Maybe radio antennas under it? They can transmit and receive through wood. (Such is the reason that the Spruce Goose's radio direction finder "football" is mounted inside the aircraft.)

  17. During the Second World War, the USSR experienced a large shortage in aluminum, and therefore, in order to ensure mass production, specially treated wood in the form of veneer and delta wood was widely used in aircraft designs. Initially, the aircraft was designed to be all-metal, but during the war it gradually received a wooden nose, gargrot and wing consoles, which significantly reduced its flight performance. I have an airplane of the period when the replacement of metal with wood began to take place.

  18. This may be the most beautiful model aircraft I have ever seen.
