  1. This looks to be a superlative kit, Martin! Thanks for the presentation!

  2. I know it’s hard for you to believe but we’re not all interested in Spitfires.

  3. Where do I sign?

  4. Thanks for sharing, this kit looks amazing.
Would love to see it in 1/48.

    • I agree John! I don't do 32

    • Oh c’mon chaps! I think that between Tamiya, Airfix and Eduard we’re well fed with quality Spits Mk.I in the quarter scale department.
On the other hand ppl that go 1/32 are not, this one is very likely the first true modern Mk.I for them. Good luck and good sales , they deserve it!
That said, wish they could do some inter wars subjects

  5. Curious as to what the ex-Wingnuts Team comes up with next or what their primary focus will be.

Between the World Wars planes aren't popular, but I'm waiting for an injection molded 1/32 P-6E Hawk that is easy to build.

I understand why they went with a Spitfire as the sales of Spitfires, Zeroes and Mustangs pay for the oddball stuff.

    • There is no modern 1/32 Spit I out there. The old Revell is it. So yes I'll take one.
      I could go for a P6-E too. I can also dream of an at-last new 1/32 Ki-43 Hayabsa, maybe even a Ki-43-1.
They did make full size ones down there IIRC.
And some Yaks...-3, -1 Dream dream.

  6. Starting a new company... it makes sense to go with the classic's and comfort food for many modelers who are familiar with the type. Many folks have built a Spitfire kit.
This kit is on the opposite spectrum of Spitfire development starting with earlier Marks when compared to Tamiya's offerings. With the earlier mark being in the Battle of Britain. It looks like they could modified the kit for some later Mark Spitfires too.
Given the kit makers pedigree for working with WingnutWings the photos of the kit pieces and the computer generated images show that they did their home work in the detail dept. If the kit is like the after mention company then it should be straight forward to build too. This model is in a niche that puts it over and above the Hasegawa kits while not having to have all the detail that a Tamiya Spitfires have in this scale. No engine or magnets to keep the cowling pieces on. Hoses and pipes etc, etc. The kit looks like a good starting point or a spring board for launching a company so that they can develop more projects and make a line of models.

    Two thumbs up.

Good to read a article from Martin. Long time no read and your comments are always of interest.

  7. Sort of given this news flash on a new Spitfire would come from Martin, hehe! Will you order one for yourself, @editor ?

  8. Would be nice if there were a early version with the two bladed prop.

  9. Looks amazing, but for me just not interested in Spits, no sure why. I love Hurricanes though!

  10. I, for one, love Spitfires. However, I'll pass on this one. $109.00 for what? I'll stick with the old Hasegawa and the newer Revell Spitfire in 1/32. Not hard to make an accurate Mk.I out of either one of them and at far less the price.

    • $109 and a bazzilion parts. Now I respect those that love kits with a bazzilion parts, but honestly I am over them. And expensive kits just cause me stress any more. I build one now and again, but I tend to like older simpler kits

      • Sticker shock or Shock and awe now seem to be the norm for some new release kits. Or Awe shucks I'm not going to pay that. Some of it has to do with Covid-19, the war in Ukraine, and inflation being at 8 plus percent. If your living out side of the states pricing must be interesting for some. I do like the acronym K.I.S.S. in modeling.

  11. Looks promising.

  12. Just spotted this item on my regular go-to website. Still in pre-order phase (seems it will be Feb/ March...?) as of today 31 January 2023.

However looking through the pre-release images, noted the following: Cartograf decals? Really? The roundels seem quite inaccurate with varying widths of colour and irregular circles; No PE?; moulded on seatbelts...? Cost-wise that's right up close with the 1/24 Airfix Spit...for a smaller scale.

A 'couple' of pluses at the moment: 1) What should be standard by now - weighted tyres...YES!; 2) Fully assembled side panel with everything - except wires...actually, not entirely sure about this - isn't the idea for the modeller to assemble stuff?

Mulling this; I can get a discount so maybe...
