USN F4-J PHANTOM "JOLLY RODGERS"

October 2, 2022 · in Aviation · · 10 · 0.8K

Built this as a "Quickie", OOB to give me a break between the "Dora", and the now started 1/100th HMS Victory. (build photo's on another article eventually)
Kit was a real pleasure to build, but for some reason i had an issue with the gloss coat prior to the decals. The only way around it was a quick sand down and hope the result was OK.
Just noticed that although glossed, the tailfin decals have a HUGE amount of silvering.
Anyway, this ones finished , and its not too bad.

  2. Not bad at all, Tony @tonyanderton
    Nice chosen scheme.

  3. Great looking Jolly Roger "J " bird! While on a Med cruise on board Nimitz we transported one VF 84's. Phantoms back to NAS Oceana I don't remember what was wrong with it, it was not air worthy.

  4. Turned out well, quickies never go to plan.

  5. Fine looking Phantom!

  6. I have the very same kit on the bench right now. Unlike yours, mines been on hold for for a few weeks due to work schedule. For a speed build yours turned out good.
