Trick Star Kawasaki Ninja H2R
About the Bike
The Kawasaki Ninja H2R was introduced in 2014, and was the company's flagship motorcycle. Different parts of the Kawasaki engineering empire collaborated in achieving the aims of the designer, particularly the installation of the supercharged engine.
Never meant to be ridden on public roads, it is extremely powerful, and can only be used on race tracks.
Kawasaki claimed it as the most powerful production bike, a claim disputed at the time because it wasn't a road bike.
Trick Star
I've wanted to build Tamiya's kit
for the H2R since it came out, but didn't want to build it with the standard mirror black finish, as already featured on iModeler by Richard McStay and Harry Brogan. When I came across this aftermarket transfer set by Magician Models my problem was solved.
I'm not entirely sure who or what Trick Star is/are, internet searches result in either an all girl Japanese pop group or a racing team, but I thought the white and silver colour scheme looked pretty special.
The Kit
It is, of course one of Tamiya's 1/12 series of motorcycle kits, which, needless to say, goes together very well as long as you follow the instructions. Using the Trick Star markings meant painting the parts white instead of Metallic Black, and most of the semi-gloss black parts were covered in the silver effect carbon fibre transfers.
The transfers went on very well but could have done with clearer instructions.
I've included a few work in process pictures,
but if you'd like more details please have a look at “George's Motorcycles” over in the Motorcycles Group here on iModeler.
The kit comes with both a racing stand
and a kick stand.
Thanks very much for looking, all comments welcome, and, as ever, happy modelling.
An amazing result of the Trick Star variant of this outstanding bike, my friend George!
A joy to watch and an equal joy to having followed your build thread.
Well done!
Thank you very much, Spiros @fiveten, your kind comments are always much appreciated. Is your Katana making an appearance anytime soon?
Yes, the Katana will appear at the headlines in due time, my friend @chinesegeorge!
Another perfect example of your modelling skills, George @chinesegeorge
Your build of this Ninja is very realistic, also the scheme is well chosen. Thanks for the building thread, which is definitely very helpful for my upcoming Suzuki.
Well done.
Cheers, John @johnb, I’m really looking forward to your Suzuki build, I see that Alex Rins won the final Moto GP race for Suzuki.
Well done, George. Put wings on her and she'd fly.
Thanks for looking, Gary @gwskat, actually she has got wings, but they’re to stop her doing wheelies at high speed.
Great looking H2R, George. It's unique and special to see one not black/carbon. Great work on this build!
Thanks for that, Andrew @pb_legend, I really liked that colour scheme as soon as I saw it.
These Tamiya kits are superbly detailed and produce a great result. I have one I did years ago OOB, yours is beautifully done, George!
Thank you very much, Robert @robgenev665, you’re right, those Tamiya kits are great, 1/12 scale, but they don’t take up too much room.
Fantastic looking model. Can really appreciate all the various shades of paint that go into modern motorcycles and you've definitely got it right. Liked.
Hi Doug @eydugstr, good to hear from you and thanks for your kind comment.
What a spooky coincidence.
I’ve just literally posted my Meng H2R and scrolled down the headlines to see yours posted a day before!
Lovely build mind mate!
I do like the different liveries on this bike.
Awesome job on the carbon fibre bits!
And well done on all your other recent articles!
I’ve not been keeping up to date with imodeler for a while with my travels, but checked in the other day and was glad to see you are keeping the automotive category alive and well.
Keep up the good work!
Hi Richard @richardmcstay48gmail-com, thanks and good to hear from you, I hope life on the ocean’s wave is keeping you well. There’s a new group here on iModeler called “Motorcycles”, check it out if you have time, there’s lots going on there.
Wow, @chinesegeorge, what a beautiful build. Love the light colour scheme, amazing work as always.
Thanks, Anthony @anthonyricco, I really liked this colour scheme, looking forward to seeing your Honda.
