Night Stalker

November 11, 2022 · in Sci-fi · · 20 · 0.9K

Here's my latest build, kit-bashed from several kits from a variety of different scales & subjects. I started with a vague idea …a sort of crustacean-like thing, armoured on top, with an exposed, mechanical underbelly. I also wanted it to have an absurd sci-fi engine in the rear and be posed in a menacing, crouched pose.

For the armoured body, I started with a 1:35 Sheridan tank hull. This was cut in half lengthwise and sort of folded on itself. I glued it back together with a styrene sheet spacer, with the half turret hole now serving as a sort of ‘wheel well' for the rear legs. This also left a large opening fore and aft for the head and engine, respectively

  3. Well done, Peter (@photon). Great looking mech, and the base is also very cool.

  4. That is the most amazing... thingumajig... I ever saw. Real creativity in the original conception, and terrific talent and skill in carrying it out!

  5. Very imaginative work, Peter, and well thought out.

  6. Beautiful scratchbuild, Peter @photon
The outcome looks very 'realistic', it could have been a true kit on the market.
    Well done.

  7. First impression, the robot is crouching like a dog getting ready to play. 2nd impression, the head with its single "eye" or that orange/red cyclops eye ties everything together in the diorama by drawing in the viewer and then allows the viewer to study the kit and its base. With out that eye the piece would look flat and monotonous.

3rd impression, this build has been done in the tradition of the 1st Star Wars movie when the prop guys built things from scratch, bought, glued many plastic kits to create something new and different.

4th impression, from the photo's and taking stuff from a junk pile of models . . . (like Anakin Skywalker making C3PO) the build looks neat and well organized, tight and crisp.

    Some strong work Peter.

    Two thumbs up.

  8. EPIC from start till end, we want more. Any ideas for new project?
