Fw190 D-9

Well, Fw190 D-9, what a lovely plane! I did it a few years ago, but Tamiya's in 1/48 scale. This time I had oportunity to get Hasegawa's Dora in Revell's box, but with so many addons that I couldn't count.
There were almost 100 resin parts from Aires, Aerobonus and Eduard, pe sets from Eduard, Moskit exhaust… Until this Dora I didn't do any so complex model. But, I was challenged.
For the start, I will note that almost every step was nightmare with fit, for example, after I've cut front of the plastic fuselage, thinned it, I couldn't add windshield because it had enormous gap between windshield and fuselage, I had to cut plastic sheet and pe to make support and fill that gaps. Gun pods in the wings were nightmare, I had to cut the bumby part, then I had to glue plastic sheet from underneath the wing, then I put the melted plastic and putty, and finally then I had to sand it. Engine couldn't properly sit in the fuselage underneath the guns… I've been slicing, drilling, cutting, putting to shapes, sanding for nearly 50 hours Without any glueing and fitting! Every single part had to be filled with putty, rescribed, reriveted, than sanded and polished. I'm honest when I say that nothing in this model was easy to put together, even wheels. I know, If I did the model OOB it would be easy, but with these resin, pe and other parts it was nightmare.
After almost 6 months I was able to complete it. I have three figures, but I'm still waiting for base to come.
Also, I had challenging time taking pics of the model because it is very big. With all the added details it weights almost 1 kilogram! It is shame that much of the details can not be seen on the model because they are hidden, but hey, I know that they are there.
After photos I will add some WIP pic, for You to see the horror.
Feel free to comment and enjoy, cheers!

  1. This is a really superb Dora, Djordje! The amount of detail added is amazing! A lot of challenging work for sure, which your excellent skills carried out superbly. Indeed, not all details can be seen, but you know they are there.
    Congratulations!

    • I'm grateful for such a vreat words from You. It is shame that cockpit is rarely visible, instrument panels is greatly detailed, and it can be seen in vivo. Camera couldn't obtain all the details.

  2. Djordje... this is lovely work, and we have to have passion for our hobby to produce this outcome, passion - and skills - which you have in bucket loads!

All your hard work paid off, and the detailing and painting is excellent. If this was, as you say, a nightmare, you can only look forward to a great night's sleep after completing this. Very well done indeed... ;-).

    Regards,

    Paul

    • Thank You Paul 🙂 This model is finished just in time before my firstborne child, she is about to come in less than a month. In fact, I think that I'll do again all of this, asa challenge 🙂

  3. Your persistence clearly paid off, Djordje @sheol
Your skills are clearly shown in this challenging kit, it looks amazing, so much detail and great paint work.

    • Thank You John. In fact, it wouldn't be so challenging if I did the model OOB, I put myself in masochistic misery with all the details. I did my best, but I think that I've improved some skills with this kit.

  4. I’m surprised that it can fly at all with the weight of all those after market accessories - ha ha, only kidding, it’s a masterpiece. Congratulations on the arrival of your daughter, I hope all goes well.

  5. Some beautiful detail work here! Finished model is fantastic - well done.
