A Bridge Too Far

April 5, 2023 · in Figures · · 36 · 0.8K

Hello fellow modelers,

For various reasons I have not published my works here, but I will resume these contributions.
For now, here's a fabulous figure I made a few months ago: a bust of the great Sean Connor in the role of Major in the movie 'A Bridge Too Far'.
The figure is from , scale 1:10, and was painted with acrylics.

Hope you like it,
M

  1. Really nice work, it captures his looks, and the determination that was portrayed in the character in the movie. Excellent coloring and brushwork.

  2. Beautiful piece of art!

  3. Damn... Was waiting for the thing to blink! Sweet work sir...

  4. Wow - excellent paint work!

  5. Beautiful work. I really admire you guys who can do these busts so realistically.

    (PS - it's Major General Roy Urquhart - darn typos! 🙂 )

  6. Reflecting of absolutely remarkable skill/talent. Wonderful.

  7. Man, you really captured Sean Connery with this one, Manuel. Terrific.

  8. Excellent paintwork, Manuel @magrus
Sean looks exactly the way as he does in the movie.

  9. Well done Manuel, the detailed painting is spot on. My dad participated in The Bridge Too Far, stated they were given 3 days rations and it took old Monty a week to show up at the 101st positions. Loved the Dutch people for their support and help in feeding them. Really nice work on this.

  10. Really Beautiful work!

  11. 3d Art Manuel. Lovely finish. 👍

  12. Superb. I admire talent such as yours. I keep trying however...

  13. Wonderful work, but he will always be 007 for me.

  14. Fantastic result, my friend Manuel! Looks so real!

  15. Great work. Love the 5 o'clock shadow!

  16. Fantastic work! Great movie, one of the scenes that sticks out in my mind is when Robert Redford's character is crossing that river in the collapsible boat and all the time, he's rowing he repeats "hail Mary full of grace."

  17. Hello:

If I may ask, how did you get the beard right? I mean seriously. Even the close shaven beard is there. Is this dry brushing? If so you have great techniques.
    • Hi Stephen @intruder500
Thank you for your kind words.
Regarding the beard, I did it with a very diluted mixture of flesh shadow and a bit of blue. Very very diluted as said. Almost transparent.
You build layer upon layer and blend the contour as you don't want to have a defined line.
It's a time consuming job, but worth it.
      Cheers!

  18. Nice work Nailed Connery! Loved that flick!

    Steve
