Bob's Vintage Built kits

April 9, 2023 · in Aviation · · 31 · 589

When I saw "" I had to show my vintage builds too. Many of these builds have been posted on this site in the past and some have never been posted. About 26 were built in the 70's and 80's while the rest were built within these last 3 years.

The old Airfix Hurricane Mk. I (YB-J) and Frog Westland Wessex are moulds from the 50's. All of the Revell kits were released in the 60's, as were the Monogram Bearcat, Hawk Spitfires, Lindberg He-162 and Aurora (Mobieus) Seaview. The rest are moulds from the 70's.

All were fun builds and to this day I am still building them.

Thank you all for making this a great website!

A beautiful collection to have on display.

  4. Very cool collection! Also, a really neat presentation with the companies' logos included!

  5. A collection of really nice models there Bob, I see there is an Avia S-199 in amongst them, one of my favorites.

    • Thank you Neil. Yes the Avia S-199 is converted from Heller's first Bf-109K. The CS-199 is the old KP kit. I built them both at the same time and enjoyed the builds very much.

  6. That's a great collection and nice work, Bob!

You’ve done very nice work on them.

  10. That quite the vintage air force you have there. Very cool collection.

  11. Great collection!

  12. Beautiful collection! Love the way that you displayed and photographed them with the brand name included. Cool seeing the SSRN Seaview in your collection. All hands on deck as we get ready for a voyage to the bottom of the sea.

    • Thank you David. Using the Model Company's logos was something I've been wanting to do for a while to display a group of builds for club meetings or small shows. It worked out nicely for this article. The Seaview was a must to show. Too bad I did not include my old Lost in Space Robot that I built in 1969. It's in pieces right now waiting for restoration work to be done.

  13. Great collection, Bob! A big part of me wants to get back into 1/72 more often.

  14. Nice, I like the way you presented the collections.

  15. Great collection of vintage kits - love it!
