Polish Spitfire- Mk. IXc
Hi everyone
Been a long time since I actually finished a kit, though I have plenty on the bench at the moment.
Bought this kit a few years back in second hand, box a bit bruised but contentes were as new and sealed.
Added some brassin wheels and exhaust and start building it late 2021.
It was also my first experience painting D-Day stripes and it kinda bogged down when removing the masks I found some stripes were a bit sluggish.
Fast forward to a few months ago, while building and painting a Tempest II I looked back at the kit and decided to finish it. Good thing I made that decision because this kit is a lot of fun. Iβm quite happy with the camouflage (Tamiya paints) and the stripes. There is still a canopy piece to add π
Hope you like it!
Very nice one, great to pick a Polish one! @holzhamer
Real nice Pedro

Your "patience" paid off, Pedo. Well done!
Excellent work, Pedro.
Thatβs a very nice looking Spit!
Love the subtle weathering.
@holzhamer
An awesome Spit.
Excellent result, Pedro @holzhamer
Paint and weathering results are really great.
Great looking model . Looks like the perfect amount of weathering .ππ»ππ»
Another one of your amazing builds, Pedro!
Looks fantastic!
I for one am very glad you went back and finished this, @holzhamer. This is one of the nicest Eduard Spitfires I have seen completed. Paintwork is excellent, particularly the D-Day stripes, and the weathering is perfect (i.e., not too much).
Beautiful work Pedro- will be using this as a reference for weathering/painting next time I build a similar aircraft. Well done!
Excellent work - the finish looks just right!
I am glad you got around to finishing this one, Pedro L. Rocha (@holzhamer). Spectacular model, especially the camo. Well done.
Beautiful finish on this, Pedro.
Great job on your build Pedro. The paint scheme and weathering is spot on!
Excellent Pedro!
Beautiful paint and weathering work on this! She is indeed lovely!

This is an excellent Spitfire build. One of the best I have seen. I commend you for all of the little things you did that make this one stand out from the crowd. I can see how the D Day stripes could have been problematic, especially around the under wing radiators. FW-190's don't have this problem...wink wink. π or wear these stripes. π
I'm just kidding around with you on the FW comments. Once I clear off the work bench of a few more already started kits, (1/48 Monogram B-24J Tubarao being one of them), then maybe we can resume our mutual Mustang and Dornier 17Z's.
Talking about canopy parts not yet installed: I took a bunch of wonderful pictures several months ago, of a 1/48 Tamiya F4U Birdcage Corsair I had just finished that was wearing overall Glossy Sea Blue. It is a model of this actual Corsair seen here.
Only to realize that after I put everything away, (photo base, stands, camera, and so on), that the sliding portion of the canopy had fallen off somewhere in our front yard...which is far worse than anything the carpet monster could have done. It happens to all of us at one time or another, and it's not very visible on yours unless you know to go looking for it.
As you know life has been very hectic lately with us. Hopefully things will be better again soon. I'll respond to your PM soon.
Thanks again for everything, but especially for being a good friend.
I definitely clicked on the "like" button for this one. Two thumbs up, and one of your best ones yet. I'm happy that you were able to finish it up. It's a good feeling to finish one, and even better to get it in the headlines section.
