1/48 Hasegawa Bf-109G-14 Hartmann…..sort of

September 20, 2024 · in Aviation · · 10 · 87

After 20 or more years, I'm just going to share what I've got done so far. The plan was to have an open canopy, but my eyes refuse to coordinate with my fingers on making the canopy cord.

I started this s****r at the height of my AMS fever. So, I used Eagleparts wheels, propeller and spinner and droptank. A Hawkeye cockpit and Eduard seatbelt and harness. There are probably more items, but after 20 years, who can remember.

And then there are the decals. Superscale, apparently, used the painting by Syd Chivers ( from Air Classics December 1968) with an interview with Erich . They identified it as a K-14! Of course now we know the markings are bogus, but I found them too good to pass up.

  1. Great job. These old Hasegawa kits can be made into excellent models, that in my opinion, stand up well to the newer kits.

  2. Excellent job and really great result, Brian!

  3. G’day Brian (@bzak),
Who doesn’t have a 20 year old build they need to finish one day?
I remember building this scheme way back before the Hasegawa kits came out.
    Yours looks great.

  4. A really nice result, Brian @bzak
    Well done.

  5. Nice work, Brian. I’m a fan of 1990s-2000s Hasegawa kits. They are generally accurate and build smoothly. What’s bogus about the markings?

    • There has never been any documentation of Hartmann flying one marked this way. If a German pilot flying a plane with this many victory marks were to go down, it would be certain death.

  6. Sharp looking 109, nice work!
