1/48 Hasegawa Ki-45 Kai Tei Toryu "Nick"
Although not free of glitches and requires a considerable attention during construction, Hasegawa's Nick represents a model painter's paradise. The main construction issue is the fit between the wings and fuselage. I cut the flaps' panel line that resides in the fuselage part and attached to the respective wing flap part.
the Hinomaru roundels were painted using templates. The marble effect is achieved by painting the light grey over the dark green surface. Weathering was kept to minimum because the aircraft were based in mainland Japan and seem to receive proper maintenance.
Very nice paint work Rafi.
Thank you Dale.
Awesome result, Rafi!
Beautiful painting!
Thank you Spiros!
Beautiful work!
I still have this kit in my stash too, but I doubt I'll build it. I'm really displeased with how Hasegawa has dealt with the exchangeable nose. There is a serious kink there that is not easily fixed.
Thank you Ronnie!
G’day Rafi (@blackmopane),
Another great build.
I’m contemplating a similar scheme when I build one of these. The effect you achieved is fantastic - especially since you sprayed light on dark.
Liked!
Thank you Michael.
The Nick is a great platform for your artistic skills.
That's some nice work you did on this Nick, Rafi @blackmopane
