1:48 Scale, Accurate Miniatures, North American P-51B, "Mustang".

Another one escapes the ..."Shelf of DOOM!"

1:48 scale, Accurate Miniatures P-51B, "Mustang". This kit sat languishing on the aforementioned "SoD" for quite a few more years than I'd like to mention. For that I have no explanation because it really is a nice little kit considering it's age. I know the Tamiya kit is considered to be a better, but I prefer the AM kit.

I used custom mixed Tamiya Acrylics, True Details weighted tires, drilled out wing MG's, an Ultra Cast seat, Infini Aero Rigging, Kits World Decals, Flory Washes, AK weathering Pencils and pastel chalks.

Markings are for the aircraft flown by Capt. Don Gentile, 336th FS, 4th FG, Spring 1944.

So many models, so little time...

  1. Quite a nice result. It's always good to get a SOD kit off the Shelf.

  2. Always super to have a SOD kit done, let alone coming up with such great result, Frederick!
    Well done!

  3. That's one good-looking fastback Pony! Well done!

  4. A very nice build of 'Shangri La', Frederick @fjs3
Glad you saved it from the SoD.

  5. Great save. I still have one of those hiding in a box about 80% complete.

  6. Beautiful save. This has always been one of my favorite B/C model Mustang subjects. I built the Tamiya kit with these same decals. I like your OD color better than mine. You really build a beautiful little P-51 their. I also like the AM kits to the Tamiya as well. I have all the AM Mustang variants in my stash.

  7. She looks really good, Don Gentile would have approved.

  8. Nice job on an oldie but goodie model. I too have a soft spot for the AM kits and have several in the stash which I need to reduce. Nicely done.

  9. Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
